Neck Lift

Smooth Contours & Tighten

What Is A Neck Lift?

The neck lift is a rejuvenation surgery that addresses sagging loose skin around the neck.

If you have been wishing for a tighter neck and a more defined jaw line, then a neck lift with Dr. Torgerson may be the right plastic surgery procedure for you. There are three different procedures designed to rejuvenate the neck. In each case, they serve to reduce fullness in the neck and the sagging of the skin and muscles, commonly a result of heredity or the natural aging process. Neck Lift surgery is most often performed at the same time as a Face Lift, a mini-lift, or Chin Augmentation. These procedures compliment the neck lift very well and can create a smooth and seamless aesthetic from the top of the head to the bottom of the neck. However, patients can choose whether to have their Neck lift performed in conjunction with other plastic surgery procedures or independently.

We invite you to experience the rewards of a welcoming environment where you can expect to be listened to, understood, and delighted with the outcome. Dr. Torgerson is here to help empower you to make the changes you desire to lead a truly beautiful life.

What To Expect After A Neck Lift

Following neck lift surgery in Toronto, patients will be allowed to go home on the same day. *Patients usually rest for approximately 3 hours in the private Recovery Room after the surgery and then are discharged by Dr. Torgerson.* Dr. Torgerson always ensures that patients have a private phone number to contact him throughout the recovery process. Prior to the surgery, the office will also have given each patient a complete Post-Surgery Instruction Kit that helps take the guesswork out of recovering and offers step-by-step advice on what to expect and on what to do throughout the healing phase. At the end of 1 week, the stitches will come out, and most patients find that they can return to normal activities by Week 2 after the surgery.

Individual Anatomy And Personal Preferences

Neck Lift Candidates

There are many ways to create a more aesthetic neckline with many of the fine points determined by individual anatomy and personal preferences. Dr. Torgerson will sit down with each prospective patient during a free consultation and discuss the possibilities best suited to the individual. The Neck Lift or cervicoplasty is ideal for patients with poor skin elasticity who may require the removal of excess skin. The second part of a Necklift procedure is called a platysmaplasty, in which the surgeon tightens the superficial neck muscles responsible for a poorly defined neckline and/or noticeable bands in the neck. The third cosmetic surgery procedure, Neck Liposuction, reduces fullness in the neck by removing excess fatty deposits. This can be done on the whole neck or simply beneath the chin. The Neck Liposuction may also be combined with a Neck Lift.

How A Neck Lift Is Performed?

Dr. Torgerson As A Necklift Expert

Dr. Torgerson’s necklift patients will have the surgery completed under general anaesthesia. An isolated Neck Lift requires incisions behind the ears, similar to a facelift, with the repositioning of the tissues and the removal of excess skin. The tightening of the weak neck muscles can also be performed through a 2- to 3-cm incision beneath the chin. Neck Liposuction is carried out through a very small incision beneath the chin or in the crease behind the earlobes. A neck lift can be completed in 1 hour to 3 hours, depending on the specific patient requirements.

Top Neck Lift Questions Asked By Patients

What factors should be discussed with the Facial Plastic Surgeon when thinking about a Neck lift?

Important Factors that should be discussed specifically relating to a Neck Lift are your skin type, bone structure, medical history, ethnic background, degree of skin elasticity, and individual healing rate. You should also discuss pricing and recovery times and if there are any other procedures you would benefit from at the same time, such as dermal filler, Botox, a face lift, or a brow lift. Talking with the surgeon about his expertise and aesthetic style as well as viewing his patient Before and After Photos are also important components to discuss. Dr. Torgerson offers potential Necklift patients a free consultation so that they have the opportunity to discuss all of these factors without the pressure of a fee.

Who is an ideal candidate for Neck Lift?

Generally necklift patients are 40 years of age and older and wish to correct any of the following: a double chin (excess fat under the chin), a turkey neck (loose, sagging, slack skin), or their jowls (fat of loose skin under the jaw). Patients who are seeking a neck lift may even be younger than this, perhaps as a result of significant weight loss or a genetic issue.

Is it possible to combine a neck lift with additional procedures?

*Yes, a neck lift can be combined with other surgical or non-surgical procedures. This is a benefit to the patient because it will not require any additional healing or recovery time but allows a number of concerns to be addressed at the same time.* Some of the other common cosmetic procedures performed with a necklift are: chin implant, face lift, brow lift, dermal filler, neck liposuction, and CO2 laser.

Where will my neck lift surgery take place?

Necklift surgery will occur in Dr. Cory Torgerson’s hospital-grade, private Surgery Centre. This centre is inspected, assessed, and approved on a routine basis by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). It is fully operational and surpasses all of the quality standards and expectations. For patients who desire top-quality care, a private surgery centre means expert medical personnel to take care of you versus a hospital setting that relies on shiftwork for nursing and anesthesiologist staff. With out-of-hospital premises such as Dr. Torgerson’s, patients can book surgery according to their timelines and not risk being cancelled by the hospital to accommodate a more urgent, life-threatening surgery. In regards to the Dr. Cory Torgerson Facial Cosmetic Surgery Centre, these are some of the CPSO’s review comments following the surgery centre’s inspection:
